Reviews of Blowhole Beach
- suzette abella Added March 10, 2023★ ★ ★ ★ ★It’s a breathtaking view and drive. Very secluded beach and never gets too crowded due to its location. Panic attacks is unavoidable going through the road but definitely fun and worth it. Be sure to take your 4wd otherwise do not attempt to drive as it can be very dangerous.
- Danielle Kindleyside Added March 08, 2023★ ★ ★ ★ ★Beautiful beach!
You absolutely have to have a 4wd to get down and back up this track. If you have a 2wd, you are pretty likely to get stuck, particularly when coming back up - so don’t ignore the warning signs about this!
Note that it’s in a National park, so the usually National park restrictions apply, and it has a $12.50 entry fee, which you need to pay before you get too far in and mobile phone reception drops.
There’s a reasonably steep walk to the beach from the carpark, so be prepared for that! - Asara Senaratne Added February 27, 2023★ ★ ★ ★ ★A very beautiful place with summer being the best time to visit it. Towards the last 2km, only 4WD are allowed. So if you have a 2WD, you have to park your vehicle at the car park, which is free, and walk down the walking path. From the car park you can see kangaroo island in the other corner. This is honestly a beautiful place to spend time. If you don’t have a 4WD, then dress appropriately to have a little bit of a steep walk for 2km. There’s a farmland that falls across the path you walk. You can walk while enjoying the view of kangaroos and sheep.
- Bruno Rodríguez Armesto Added February 17, 2023★ ★ ★ ★ ★Beautiful secluded beach with amazing views on your way down. You'll need to have a 4w drive to get down to the beach, otherwise you'll need to walk down the 4w road or a separate walk that takes a few minutes less. Both are quite steep, about 30m or so, and while they're not technically difficult, the way up might make you sweat. Lots of kangaroos and birds both ways, plenty of photo opportunities.
- Miles D Added February 17, 2023★ ★ ★ ★ ★An absolutely wonderful beach tucked away in a less populated area along the peninsula!
Even on a busy public holiday, Blowhole Beach was fairly empty, it was easy to find a place to set up and there was a nice distance between us and others in the water.
The views were great and the water was crystal clear and there were plenty of walking tracks around if you wanted to heat up before taking a dip.
There weren’t any public toilet facilities, not that we weren’t expecting this, but just a heads up to go before you get there - there is one along the dirt road on the way.
Another mention is that unless you park at the top car park and walk down, you have to have a 4WD SUV, a lot of the 4WDs were lifted trucks, but we were in a BMW X3 and it was able to get up and down no problem, we also saw a Volvo XC60 and a Nissan X-Trail so it is definitely doable in smaller SUVs.
Overall we really enjoyed this beach and I reckon you would too. - Marni Hall Added April 19, 2018★ ★ ★ ★ ☆Beautiful setting with some great hikes. Monarch butterflies in abundance on the surrounding countryside and you're sure to see a kangaroo /wallaby or two if you take any of the walks from the campsites at Cobblers Hill towards the cost.
